I was just thinking about the latest election results and politics in America. As a lifelong independent voter, I feel comfortable critiquing either main party and their candidates. Quite frankly, I am very concerned that my children, and grand children, and great grand children, and future generations are in for major changes in their foundation freedoms and rights. The extremists of both parties have captured the direction of their respective party and are only dividing the American people more and more. We are all now experiencing political violence from both groups and an administration that continues to exacerbate the division in our society. So, the concerned American has to ask how we can change this direction and return to the middle of the road politicians and people making the decisions.
The Democrats continue to embrace the far left ideology, when in fact, the largest segment of their party membership are moderate Democrats that are more concerned about trying to protect America from the oppositions extremist candidates and ideology than who they actually pick to facilitate that protection. As an independent, what I saw in 2020 was an election that was centered around stopping the Republican candidate (Trump) from getting re-elected, while ignoring who they chose to replace Trump. Ergo: We all now have the Biden Administration and their extremist policies to deal with. The Democrats still contend that Biden is better than Trump, regardless of his policies.
The Republicans have a field of very strong leaders that could bring the moderate Republicans back to the Constitutional government that has protected our basic freedoms since the creation of America itself. However, the Republican political system has been highjacked by a very popular former President that continues to argue the 2020 election was stolen by Biden, the southern boarder has been destroyed, crime is rampant throughout American big cities, and the socialist movement has taken over the Whitehouse. The biggest issue facing the Republican Party is who is going to be their candidate in the upcoming 2024 Presidential election. Trump seems to be leaning toward running again, while also demanding that if he does, no other Republican leader runs against him.
Well now, for me I can't accept either party's policies or positions as they are now presented. In my opinion it is time for America to demand a new generation take the helm and set the future direction of America. If the election is a rematch of Biden and Trump, we will see another divisional dogfight that will only further exacerbate America's extremists policies and positions. Both candidates would be in their 80s as President. Isn't it time for some younger leaders to pick up the baton and finish the race? In the seemingly ongoing election just conducted, the Republicans believed they would run the table the take back both houses of Congress. In fact, they look like they might take control of the House and actually loose a seat in the Senate. In my opinion, there are two major elements that created the lack of seat gains for the Republicans. First of all, the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs Wade last summer activated liberal voters to turnout against Republican candidates. Secondly, the Republicans were significantly shot down by their continued relationship with Trump.
Bottomline is that if we don't eliminate the extremist impact on our political parties so the moderates can again take a leadership role, we will continue to be divided until something takes place to eliminate one extremist group or the other. The Democrats have to re-evaluate their policies on open boarders, fossil fuels, and crime control to allow the moderate Democrat to openly support the new directions. The Republicans have to resolve the Abortion issue and say goodbye to Trump.
